About

My Background

Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine have been a large part of my life since I was a child. I was exposed to Eastern medicine at a young age by my aunt who has been a practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine in California for decades. Chinese Medicine and Eastern philosophy have been a central part of my own personal health and healing for over 20 years and has taught me the importance of balance within ourselves and how we fit into the world. I hope that my passion and knowledge of Chinese Medicine can help make the lives of my patients more comfortable and fulfilling.

Chanah’s Bio

Chanah Sheldon is a licensed acupuncturist in Manhattan. She earned her Master of Science degree in Acupuncture at Tri-State College of Acupuncture in New York City where she trained with some of the leading masters in the field of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Chanah studied and continues to study several different styles of acupuncture including Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM), Kiiko Matsumoto Style Acupuncture (KM), and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Chanah also spent some time learning about Classical Chinese Herbal Medicine. Her comprehensive training has prepared her to approach each patient as an individual, integrating multiple styles of acupuncture to bring each person back into balance in their own unique way.

During her studies, Chanah received several mentorships and personalized training from some of the best acupuncturists in the world. She interned privately with Diane Rooney, winner of the 2014 award for Worldwide Leader in Health Care, where Chanah gained in-depth knowledge of Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM), Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), trigger points and essential oils. During her internship in the APM Faculty clinic at Tri-state College of Acupuncture, Chanah further expanded her expertise of Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM) and the complexities of the muscles and fascia in the body. Upon graduation, Chanah was handpicked based on merit to intern with world-renowned scholar and acupuncturist, Kiiko Matsumoto (KM) who founded her own Kiiko Style of Acupuncture. Later on, Chanah went on to teach graduate students the KM style of acupuncture.

Chanah has always been passionate about public health and she especially enjoys helping people suffering from pain, stress, anxiety, insomnia, allergies, digestive and gynecological irregularities, and difficulties with fertility. This passion led her to Central America in 2016 with the Global Healthworks Foundation to provide acupuncture services as part of an integrative healthcare mission in Chichicastanengo, Guatemala.

In addition to her Masters of Science in Acupuncture, Chanah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Education from Portland State University. Before pursuing acupuncture, Chanah worked in several healthcare clinics in Portland, Oregon and New York City, owned a baking business, and worked on an organic farm. When she’s not practicing acupuncture, Chanah enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, baking, gardening, pilates, foosball, camping, and traveling (especially back to her hometown, Portland, Oregon).
